Updating the DCS Commander | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I am new to O Gauge. My small layout has the MTH DCS Commander (50-1028). I purchased Barry's DCS O Gauge Companion, and followed the directions for downloader software and installing version 1.40 of the Commander software. Everything works just fine.

I also see that there is a "DCS V 4.20" of the operating software on the Ptorot Sound web site. In Barry's book it appears that this applies to handheld remotes and TIU's. Does the V 4.20 software update also apply as an install to the DCS Commander, or does install of the V 1.40 Commander update file suffice?

Does the V 4.20 software update also apply as an install to the DCS Commander, or does install of the V 1.40 Commander update file suffice?

DCS 4.20 applies only to the TIU and DCS Remote. V1.40 of the DCS Commander software is the latest update for that device.
