Lets say the engine is running forward, slow down to 2 or 3 SMPH and press the PSA button. The engine will now stop and   the announcements  start or whatever version is installed in your engine. after the announcement 30 seconds or so, press the dir button and another announcement talks away.   After 30 seconds or so press the dir again  so another announcement comes on. You'll be able to tell when the last announce is done, the engine's bell will ring and the engine will move out at the speed you stopped .  After the bell stops ringing you regain control of the engine.

Tip...  After starting the PFAs you lose control of the engine, if you decide you don't want to listen to all or any of the announcements just press the PSA again. this terminates the psa and you regain control of the engine.

I 've never tried  the PSA in conventional mode.

Gregg,

You missed a step (see bold):

  • slow down to 2 or 3 SMPH and press the PFA button
  • An announcement will play and the Bell wing ring continuously until you press the DIR button
  • The engine will now stop and   the announcements  start or whatever version is installed in your engine

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!

Thankyou both for the great answer.  At least some people care what others would like to know.
