Yes, that's the date in the lower right corner. 1005, Oct 2005. That CW-80 is from the early batch which has the A and B terminals connected together...instead of the more recent commoning of the U terminals. That will be important for the wiring. You will have to check what the others are before connecting them up and phasing them.

Generally, we connect the commoned U terminals to the outside rails. In the case of the early CW-80s we would connect the Aand B terminals to the outside rail and the U terminal of the A side to the center rail as the adjustable voltage.

If the early CW-80s were in any way probablimatic like loud fan, or other, Lionel was replacing them with new ones by simply cutting the cord off and sending that in.

How long will they (lionel) do that?

Don't know. It was kind of a non-warranty warranty. The approach is to call their customer number and ask for their help pointing out what you're wanting to do and if there is an issue with them.

if you use these, they work fine...if they work fine. We just need to know what they are so we can connect them properly.
