I am using MTH crossing signals (flashers only) on my 3 rail layout's grade crossing. I want to use optical detection for its operation, not outside rail current detection. Will any of the Circuitron detection boards work for me, or are they only for 2 rail systems?

I’m thinking of installing a set of signals. Been doing some research. Check out www.azatrax.com. They have a few different options and clear instructions for whatever your scenario
To add to what Dave said . I used the AZATRAX D2T-DS. You get 2 pairs of I.R. sensors that can reach over 2 tracks, and sense trains in either direction.
Economical and works like a charm, not to mention "easy peasy" for an electronics novice like myself.
