This was done very quickly for a wargame project (as indicated by the sci-fi dwarf and the dreary paint scheme), but the scale (such as it is) is quite suitable for o-gauge and I thought you folks might be interested. The Space dwarf in the first pic is only about 25mm tall but The angel in the second picture is just about the same height as a 1/48 human.
Anyway, I painted up this very compact church...
...that I had converted from this musical clock decoration which I found at Goodwill for 3 bucks.
Despite ripping out the light and sound elements and the external power supply connections I was still able to make the clock function properly!
Came with 9 rather nice stain-glass-ish window pieces though I've put matte varnish over them to make them appear a bit more dirty and worn.
Anyway, this should add a nice little bit of flavor to my urban wargaming city without taking up much space at all. Lots more pre-and-post paint pics and construction notes here:

As for a train layout, it's extremely compressed base dimensions might make it unsuitable for a central or foreground locations, but this shortened church would be ideal for placing in the rear or a layout or in between other buildings and it's certainly got a bit more visual interest than a standard flat.
Perhaps it could also be placed between other buildings in a downtown street scene where the rear would not be visible. If I were doing this for a train layout I probably would have replaced the angel figure with a Vicar. I never rigged a power supply to it (it originally had a 4.5V connection in the base) but my assumption is that the Angel would pop out on the hour.
