While the big change is the opening of the dealer halls to the public on Friday and Saturday, this little change was also in the Meet Notice for April.

I looked back at the notice for October 2016 and it specifically prohibited videos anywhere. This notice is different in that the 'no video' rule is listed only with the 'no photography' rule for the member halls.

Maybe someone will record some videos or do Facebook Live to show how the halls look with the public on Friday and Saturday.

It may be nice to see some videos from our favorite YouTube people at York. That may drum up some more non-member attendance in October. I will try to take some video to show my brother how York has changed since the last time our dad took us in the early 90's. It may persuade him into returning to York with me in the future.

I just really don't get the deal with pictures and video it's part of life in the real world. TCA doesn't want strollers, but walkers and wheelchairs are fine. TCA needs younger members this is part of how you get them. There is nothing wrong with walkers and wheelchairs but when these good people are gone who is going to keep the TCA going. You got it, those people pushing the strollers.

I thought there were announcements the past few years that photography was allowed in the dealer halls and even in the layout area of the white hall.  After hearing the announcements I did take many pictures.

I posted some pics on ogr last York of the fabulous 28 x 117 layout from D.C.

Guess I better buy a hearing aid.

No hearing aid required.

The small distinction is video vs. still photos.  Technically stills were allowed, but video not allowed.

How the ED ever thought that distinction would be observable is a bit of a mystery to me though, since nearly every modern digital photographic device is capable of either function with no obvious difference in the user's operation.

Probably was just an oversight in updating the wording since they have now updated it to allow both (at least that's what I'll prefer to believe )

The layout I really like is (I believe) the Flower City Tinplate Trackers.  I believe they are based somewhere near Syracuse, NY.  Oustanding layout and the track arrangement fully supports prototypical operation, like a real railroad.  So many modular layouts (including ones I've been a part of) are only about round and round display type running.

I would love to see some comprehensive documentation of the Flower City layout, either at York or another venue.  Because of the ban, I haven't photographed it myself to date.  Happy to see that things are being relaxed a bit!
