Hello All,

New member here. Attached are a few images of my recent scratch-built structure - an old gas station. The station itself is scribed basswood siding. The door, windows, gas pump, and various detail parts (barrels, etc.) are a combination of plastic and metal castings. Sifted dirt, gravel, and various ground foam and clumps of grass make up the scenery on the 8"x8" wood base. Weathered with various paints, india ink wash, and powders. Night scene was replicated with blue lights. Canopy lighting is powered by a single AA battery inside building.

Comments and critique are welcome.

Thanks to all for your comments and critique!

Russ: Yes, I'm definitely going to build more gas stations. I've got two more already in the works.

Pete: Below are a couple of gas station progress shots. The first shows the station prior to the final paint, weathering, and signage, as well as the raw Sculptamold on wood base. The second shows the initial scenery without the addition of details and the roofing material not yet secured to the model:

Gee, Pete.

Do you realize that if my power goes out with the storm right now, that will be the last image to stick in my head for the next few days?!!!  The stuff of nightmares.

I love it!

The devil is telling me to post it as my avatar right now!

...and, Leon, we do have fun around here in addition to showing great modeling such as yours. It's a good place on the forum to hang out.

Jim
