Now that would be something to see. Would it be worth it for a manufacturer to offer the single unit, and let the modeler choose his grouping; 1, 2 or 3 units?

Just thinking of the budgeting, like the live steam hobby. They used to offer running gear/chassis kits, boilers and fittings separately, to allow the hobbyist a modular approach if you will.

I didn't preorder the jackshafts when MTH offered them because there were too many other items I was after at the time and I ran out of money. I wish MTH would offer them again and I would preorder, but the Virginian doesn't have a big following so I'd worry that the demand just isn't there. Perhaps this would be better suited as a brass project for 3RD Rail. The Virginian did split up some of the three unit sets into individual locos for switching at a few locations where they had yards under wire.

I would also order the EL2b's if someone offered them, but again I doubt that's going to happen. These were unique engine sets that weren't used on any other roads. MTH took a GN double ended electric that looks similar to the EL2b's and decorated it for the Virginian, but the EL2b's had single cabs and completely different running gear.
