Has anyone applied water slide decals to foam core poster board? I'm thinking the paper outer layer may react badly to the water.

Do you have any spare decals to experiment with??
I'd also suggest a coat of clear gloss sealer (let it dry, of course) on the poster board to seal the paper layer and provide something 'familiar' for the decal to bond to. Also, moisture on the water slide decal will cause the unsealed paper to swell from absorption. When it subsequently dries...and shrinks...it may do wacky things with the bond to the decal. Sealing the paper layer first will minimize moisture getting to the paper.
Just a couple of thoughts. And, no, I've never tried decals directly applied to foam core board. The above thoughts are just intuitive.
And let us know what you found to work well, please!!!

KD, I hadn't thought about clear coating the poster board first. Like I said the water would probably reek havoc on the poster board. I'll have to give clear coating some thought. Maybe I can find stickers instead of decals.
I had some decals out and was working on another project- this got me curious, and I tried it. they were small decals (3/8 x 3/4 roughly) but the poster board with a coat of clear gloss was a ton better. I did not use setting solution in either case but the decal directly on poster board did not adhere well at all. Not a lot of water used on these but water seems to have had no impact on the un coated board, based on this one data point.
Thanks for giving it a try Hokie. I never thought adhesion would be the issue. Looks like stickers are going to be the way to go.
