Weathered Hot Metal Cars

In the 2016 Volume 2 catalog, there are weathered hot metal cars numbered 6-83487. It's an animated photo though (I think).

Does anybody have a photo of the real cars? I have a chance to buy some but I'm hesitant because I don't know what the weathering is. Can I paint over it if I don't like it? Is it textured?

Just looked for some details on what the weathering includes. A Google Images search left me empty handed.
