Weaver 3R PS-1 conversion to Atlas 2R trucks

In order to get the correct coupler and ride height I had to remove the frame section and mount the trucks directly to the boxcar floor.  Is this the common method of upgrading these with the Atlas trucks, or is there a better way?  

Unless you MUSt use the Atlas O trucks, the better way is to get some scale trucks from either Weaver or from other O scale Mfg's. Weavers ultrascale cars are made to O scale standards while Atlas O caters to the 3 rail group first- hece the large truck bolster on the Atlas O trucks.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I just read on another thread that Atlas isn't very friendly with other makes.  I had the Atlas trucks on the workbench and I like the spinning caps, but Atlas trucks aren't required.  Looks like I need to pick up a few Weaver 2R trucks. 

Weaver rolling stock is one of the easiest to convert to 2 rail, because the body bolsters were designed for both 2 and 3 rail. You can use Weaver, Athearn or Intermountain or even old Atlas(Roco) trucks without any modification to either the body or truck.
