I recently bought a Weaver SD40-2 in Southern black and white. Suggestions on how to remove the large white stripes on the sides? Tried Scalecoat stripper. brake fluid and 91% alcohol. No luck. Suggestions please.
That paint is tough to remove. I'd recommend 600 grit wet sandpaper and carefully remove the stripes. The black is Scalecoat II black, and you can easily blend the black back over that area. You'll need to paint that area no matter how you approach it, but the wet sanding will eliminate any protrusions under the black you're painting.
Thanks, Jeff. Not had this kind of trouble with Weaver stuff. I can remove the hard paint line then blend with Milw Orange. I almost always use ScaleCoat II anyway.
