Congratulations, Andy.  This Christmas will be my 50th anniversary in trains.  They may try to take Christmas from us but they'll never get our trains!

Congratulations Andy and Bruce!  I will split the difference.  It has been 45 years since I took things into my own hands and bought my first train set.  I was 13.

This is a BAR MILLS craftsman kit. I enjoyed building it although it had its challenges, Bobby. Someone is offering a similar built up kit, but upon close inspection, its not quite up to par with BAR MILLS'.   Originally Posted by Bobby Ogage:

I started out with 2 TMCC Weaver ALCOs but had issues with the TMCC.......speed went up and down at will......I caught the train going over the bridge at a good time.

Could the the metal building frame be the issue?

I switched to DCS, and the MTH DL109-110s did not disappoint.

Well, we had our fifth "Downtown Winter Festival" display for the City of Los Angeles this weekend. For this event, we use a few simple loops just to display the trains and let the kids take the controls, though we've discussed the possibility of building a portable layout specifically for public events. We also give advice on starter sets, promote the hobby, and engage in shameless self-promotion of the club.

More photos were taken by other members and I'll post them after they're distributed.
