"Small layout...Big dreams"

The little town of Magooville has been growing.  Here's a few scenes with work still under construction.  It's made up of new purchases (mostly MTH), kits, refurbished Plasticville and whatever scraps of junk I can find in my garage.

The latest addition to my fleet (It arrived this morning.) 

A layout based on the Redwood Empire Route cries for redwood trees.  A group of three will be my next addition, but a 1/48 scale redwood tree reaches, roughly, 3 feet above the track.  I hope I have enough room.  Jim

Hey Keith; Love the red Vanderbilt! What year is it from?

Thanks Chris!  I think it is from '96 or '97ish.  It has a Pulmor motor and command.  I have another in NYC Gunmetal grey that I bought on the forum a while ago.  The NYC runs perfect and has an awesome whistle.  This red one was bought as non working...and it doesn't.  I need to trace the wiring.  It also has a busted eccentric crank and bent rods.  The paint is beautiful though.  I'll get her running.

These red (and also the blue) ones are fairly uncommon aren't they?

When I saw it yesterday I thought perhaps you had done some of your excellent paint work on it!

It might be a good candidate for the Timko can motor/cruise  conversion unless it is valuable as a collector piece.

That cliffside is really beautiful, Jim, among the best I have ever seen. Perfection. If it were not for the figure and the center-rail, I might have thought I was confusing a photo of modeling and nature, again. Wonderful work, sir.

I think it was 250-300 of each IIRC.  When I've seen them come up on eBay, they were usually $900-$1500 for the red.

When Marty Fitzhenry posted about Frank Timko and his Yellowbelly Hudson motor conversion, I thought about my red Vandy.  That may be something I will look into...at some point down the road...Thank you.  This will be a runner (I hope) so I'm not worried about collector value.

Sorry Guys this is my first attempt to post a layout picture.  This is a scratch built barge I built to go with my Lionel tug.  It is lettered for the PRSL, however I don't think they add any in thier roster.  Enjoy!
