many of you know the vendor listed above from the bay, >> in the picture , of their signal boards
what is that thing attached to the black wire on the left hand side, next to the wire for the red signal thanks,

Looks like a resistor to me.
Looks like a current limiting resistor.
But what is attached to the 2 wires going to the bottom right terminal? A reed switch?
Could you post a link to the item?
Bob
I'm thinking Bob is right, but I agree a link to their item would be helpful in determining this for sure.
yep, it's a resistor. Their instructions are a little cryptic. JHainer fooled with these. email him from his profile email. he got them working.
The components at the top connected to the white contacts are the IR transmitter and receiver leds.
GRJ stacks these on top of one another in a tube to look like a post. It's tough to get them to sense properly with one on either side of the track.i
ingif you purchased the wehonest 3 aspect signals, the resistor is included.
Since you can supply 12 vDC to 16vAC to the device you would have to check the output to match the resistor to your own leds depend on how you power it. Typically 9v-12v DC at 2ma for each led, so do the math for 12vDC at (3 x 2ma) 6ma.
The black wire is the common anode (long pin on an led)or current into device and is connected to the anode of each of the three leds. That's why the resistor is there.
The colors are the individual cathode(current away from device) and are separate from one another. The colors are to indicate which color aspect to control.
You have to measure the voltage at the light outputs using your input supply to calculate the resistor that you need. wehonest docs don't provide that.
If you have the input power set to AC, you get the AC at roughly the same voltage from the switch outputs. If the power is set to DC, you get around 3VDC out of the switch outputs.
I've attached the instructions for the board.
