I haven't been here long enough to become attached to the "old" style, but still looking forward to the new!

Can't wait, got several pictures I want to post from my "new" layout with scenery. Also some wiring diagrams for electrical forum!

Barry B. does alot with the DCS forum, well now I find myself "hanging out" mostly at the electrical forum, though I doubt I am on par with Dale M. and other more knowledgeables, but hey its fun.

Good luck with the transfer and such OGR. Hope it goes well for you. I've been involved with several conversions over the years, they are not always easy.

This could be a good start for a twilight zone episode....and when we wake tomorrow ..there is no ogr forum....we can't find it....the only thing left is

No forum could be easier to use than this one, but it's not ours so on we go.

Gee...I hope not...I'm shuttin' down the email and going on vacation for a few weeks.

This change does cause reflection on the success here. It's brought together a diverse group of train collectors, operators, and builders. Every level of expertise...the members make the forum, but the environment made it happen. And the forum owners make the environment.
So thanks y'all.

It is VERY unlikely that the new forum will be up and running in the early hours of the morning Eastern time.

I do not anticipate having it back up until around noon EST. It depends on how smoothly the data migration goes and if there are any problems after the import.

I was a computer programmer for 25 years, and this only makes me recall all those projects when
we "went live", took a deep breath, and waited for the phones to start ringing. I don't miss it.

I was still working on January 1st, 2000, 12:01 AM. Fortunately we
had done our jobs. Whew.

You must be and IT guy and not a business guy. EG.,

IT guy to business guy - there will be a 4 hour downtime for maintenance

Business guy - OK

T+0 everthing is down

T+10 minutes
Business guy - how long is this going to take?
IT guy - 4 hours
Business guy - that is unacceptable - everything needs to be back up in 30 minutes MAX
IT guy - not going to happen
Business guy - and why not?
IT guy - long drawn explanation that lost the business guy about 2 words in.
Business guy - Yes but why does this take so long?
IT guy - I need to get back to what I was doing or it will take even longer.
T+20 minutes
Repeat T+10 every 10 minutes
T+4 hours
Business guy - OK 4 hours are up, why is it not back up yet?
IT guy - because you consumed 2 of my 4 hours annoying me with dumb*** questions.
Business guy - So how long is it going to take now?
Repeat T+10 minutes

And yet they cannot fathom why this stuff takes so long and blame the IT guys for the delay.
