Oh man...
OH MAN...........
I picked up my Lionel Milwaukee Road 261 yesterday at the local hobby shop I ordered it through. What an engine!!!! They demo'd it on the layout and it operated flawlessly.
There was no need for CPR, or an ambulance when I saw it out of the box. I have the Weaver Milwaukee Road Baltic on display in a case in my living room. The 261 is going there (Nuts!! I also love my Baltic and need to find another place to display it!!). But as the local hobby shop demonstrated it, it worked quite nicely. The sounds amazed me immensely.
Man I was so happy. All that lobbying, pushing, talking to MTH or Lionel at York, Facebook posts, etc.. And now that it is done and in my home... Oh man I'm so happy!!
I guess my next crusade is going to be for the Northern Pacific Timken. But I want to thank all you guys who pushed for the S3 Northern. Many of you guys did a lot, and I know there are a lot of Milwaukee Road fans out there. We may not have the numbers of those who worship the Pennsylvania or New York Central. But we're a dedicated, close knit family. Given how well this locomotive has gone for Lionel I'm sincerely hoping that we will see more Milwaukee Road from Lionel. And I hope MTH realizes the opportunity that was missed when Lionel beat them to the punch, and I'm hoping that they will crank out some more Milwaukee Road steam.
But for me...my one hope became reality and its sitting in my condo here in the Washington, D.C. area.
So again everyone...thanks for your dedication and commitment!! This was a perfect weekend if there could ever be one!!
Sincerely,
David
