I have not fully decided what, if anything, I will order. I plan to be leaving my long time place of employment later this summer in search of something new and exciting so I'd like to hold my wallet a little closer during that time.

I'm looking at and considering the Imperial 0-8-0, and the Hybrid ES44. I've been leaning more to the Hybrid as of late mainly because I've got 2 0-6-0s already, I always liked the Premier Hybrid with charging lights despite lack of interest in modern day locomotives. Also, with much of my layout running with 0-31 curves now due to a track extension, the steam locomotives are a little less friendly on the curves that are much tighter now. I would also like to get into Amtrak as well......

Matt, that GP is a GP7 so says MTH with no Dynamic brake blister. They just do not look right without the blister. MHO

0 this catalog for this guy.

Not a problem. I think I can make a shell-swap work. Also, I was told that the MTH GP7's are actually GP9's.

CNW had GP7's too, but I don't recall whether they had dynamic brakes. Have to check my photos.

I was in a train show today and picked up the Lionel catalog, and a sharply discounted drop bottom gon.......dealer said he wouldn't have MTH catalogs for maybe a week as the first run was "messed up in printing".  This is why I asked for a better description of "inspection engines", but I am guessing this won't be a passenger body out over the

boiler of a steamer, as in the old photos.

I plan on two GS4's from the imperial line.  One in daylight, one in black and gray.  The DL one will replace the DL RTR version I bought my son 5 years ago.

I have several other things I am eyeing as well.  Haven't made up my mind on where the budget will focus.  Leaning towards some E8's though.

I turned in my MTH pre-order list today. Since Lionel has really pushed back the Milwaukee Road passenger cars I decided to go with the Wabash SD70Ace. Other items are the Milwaukee Road Little Joe in freight colors 1960's - 1970's version. Plus the Great Northern passenger set with the extra cars. Looked at what I can afford and most of this material I am betting will be coming out over 2014 possibly 2015; knowing how MTH is regularly running behind in production. For me that's okay! I have my MTH Premier Nickel Plate Road ES44 paid off and am working on the Burlington Northern SD45.

Plus I am thinking of selling more items from my collection.

The lady at my LHS said the PDF download was forever on the MTH catalog, when I

picked up the Lionel one...she was right..I just got through the U.S. portion moments

ago.  I was going to inquire about a comparison, of art work, vs. contents, but none look like photo illustrations...the Lionel catalog had a few steamers of passing interest....the MTH had one RPO...I will have to search back and find where Allan listed seven items. The MTH looked like not only mostly modern cars but mostly post

merger roadnames.  One "oddity" was a duplication of SP passenger cars, as two sets

of identical cars, while the very popular Pennsies on the same age only got one set...

what did I miss?

Yeh Steve. I am thinking the same way. My concern is PS-3 . My R-36 is back to to MTH for the second time. It was home on my layout for all of about 5 minutes before back to the LHS and back to MTH. It came back from MTH once with more problems than when it left the first time.

I am thinking if I get the 6 car set, at least i will have 5 cars to run with the RS=1 and RS-3.

My only beef/issue is..Why didn't MTH make a unskirted version of the S1?..I can see them comming out with the american railroad version..in which I didn't know that. Why even comeout/re issue the pennsylvania??Only one model train company made the unskirted version is sunset 3rd rail..that I have, number 37 out of 75 actually made..

Lee, I agree that UP Turbine propane is a unique looking beauty. I only have Legacy from Lionel but I do run these conventionally as well. Do you know if the UP will run conventionally as well. I also plan to purchase all 4 modern reefers from Mth. They will look great on my reefer unit train. I plan to purchase the Boy Scout hopper car from Lionel also for my Boy Scout train. I See Scenic Express is coming out with Boy Scout figures that I wii buy for the Boy Scout Camp I am building. David56
