Good Afternoon,
I have been having some issues with my DCS...surprise surprise. Gotta love it! Many times when I try to turn the speed of an engine down with the remote it will actually go to a higher speed. Sometimes it even toggles over to "quickset speed". What could possibly be the problem?

Broken thumb wheel or thumb wheel mount? Too strong of a thumb push??
Oh no! I will take it to the train store and see if that's the case. It still has the same tension as it did when I purchased it. Thanks for your reply.

When you turn on the remote, which version of DCS is displayed?

The contacts in the encoder wheel can get dirty and make the speed do all sorts of strange things. 
Also, you can't roll the wheel too fast (at least none of my remotes), or it's more likely to give flaky results.
Hey John thanks for your response. How would I check the encoder for dirt and clean? I have been careful not to roll too fast. I am usually trying to run the units prototypical so everything is gradual.

if you push the thumbwheel to far at one time you can actually switch to max speed, you just press the thumb wheel again and it will switch back to your speed setting your trying to change too, you just have to play with it and get use to it many people have had the setting switch to max speed.
The only way I know to check the contacts is take the remote apart. If you haven't done this before, it's not for the faint of heart.
