I decided to buy a laser cutting machine (low end to learn on) from Walmart. Less than 200.00 with 5W LASER POWER output. After watching a bunch of YouTube videos on using 5W machine and free software (LaserGBRL) I was on my way. Took about a month to perfect everything and most importantly, pixels to inches, and both to centermeters, latter for the software cut. If you search in Google you can open in web browser a converter for each! Design in pixels of 72 dpi on your PC. This is standard graphics res for TV broadcasting graphics. Keep ALL designs in this format. My machine is SculptFun brand and I also bought the rotary engraver attachment for it for $79.00 of same brand. This Christmas my grandson will be in for a shock. PE is his favorite movie. Here is 2 weeks of free time after learning. The wood is Basswood from online sellers of 1/16 and 1/8 thickness. Good luck!
