I decided to buy a laser cutting machine (low end to learn on) from Walmart. Less than 200.00 with 5W LASER POWER output. After watching a bunch of YouTube videos on using 5W machine and free software (LaserGBRL) I was on my way. Took about a month to perfect everything and most importantly, pixels to inches, and both to centermeters, latter for the software cut. If you search in Google you can open in web browser a converter for each! Design in pixels of 72 dpi on your PC. This is standard graphics res for TV broadcasting graphics. Keep ALL designs in this format. My machine is SculptFun brand and I also bought the rotary engraver attachment for it for $79.00 of same brand. This Christmas my grandson will be in for a shock. PE is his favorite movie. Here is 2 weeks of free time after learning. The wood is Basswood from online sellers of 1/16 and 1/8 thickness. Good luck! PS..waiting on the tower working clocks to be delivered.

Laser cutters and 3D printers are gonna put a lot of model makers out of business.
Nice work on the building.
Very Nice Work!
Looks great. Can those be used for printing small signs too? I'm looking to do a sign that is 5/8" square, with 4 lines of text, with up to 25 letters per line.
Very cool, that's a great way to create custom buildings!

Too tiny. Can you print words on a printer over color paper then place on wood sign you make and clear spray over it. Will look great I'm sure!
Thanks. I tried printing them on my nice, but not superb HP inkjet in high quality mode. To fit I had to scale the font down to 4 point. It really was too tiny to see. I've attached the prototype sign I'm trying to copy. Perhaps I need to make 2 signs, each with 2 lines, and then increase the font size.
Thanks again.

Maybe go to G scale layout? lol ..I kid, I kid!
I forgot to mention, you are limited to the dpi of your printer. So try making your words in a graphic program no greater than its dpi for print.

I think laser cutters and 3d printers are putting more high quality individual models out there though.
