What do Trainland, NJ Hi-Railers & The Sopranos Have in Common?
Answer: a Lionel operating toy train layout.

During a recent Trip to the New York Area, the Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) had an opportunity to visit the NJ Hi-Railers Club in Patterson NJ to see the operating layout that was featured in a season ending episode of the popular HBO TV Series, The Sopranos. The NJ Hi-Railers restored the layout to it's original state with a few additional drops of Hollywood blood stains. We then met with Ken Bianco, one of the family owners of the successful Trainland train store located in Long Island NY. Trainland is one of the largest Lionel Authorized Service Centers and dealers in the country. This store was the set location used for the filming of The Blue Comet" Episode of The Sopranos. Click on the video link below and listen to Ken describe the filming session that took place inside of his store. Ken also shares his opinion on the changes facing the toy train hobby. A sincere thanks go out to the NJ-Hi-Railers, Trainland and Ken Bianco for sharing this story with our LCCA members and guest who visit our website.

I think it is great that the Sopranos chose to feature model trains in a few episodes of their popular cable TV series.  The exposure for the hobby is good.  .   I would like to see more Lionel Trains on contemporary TV.  I understand it is expensive to advertise, but if it could be a part of storylines, it could introduce new people to the hobby.

Do you want both track plans or just the garage layout   I will take some pics this week.

I was thinking of doing a video where Vinny is standing by the layout that Bobby Bacala got hit by.  He is holding a Blue comet engine and two guys with MTH shirts come in and start throwing Tinplate traditions at him with the same facial expressions as the TV series scene.  Then he falls back on the layout

We can't put a hit on Chef Vinny.  We don't want to bite the hands that feed us.  I think maybe you, Ben will be a suitable substitute.
