Have been gone for about 5 years (life happens).  Bought a new house and am ready to set up a new layout starting next month.  Started getting the magazine again and rejoined the TCA.  Saw some new products and heard the bad news that my local hobby shop's owner Glen Url died, but positive news that it was reopened by a fellow Cuyahoga Falls alumni that I went to school with.  Just looking to see what I might have missed out on in the last couple of years and if I should be aware of any new innovations before I start my new layout.  Not looking to start any debates or anything.  Thanks in advance.

btw:  glad to see weekend photo topic is still going have gotten lots of inspiration in the past from thread.

Welcome back Bryan.  I got back into O gauge a few years ago after quite a long break so I know the feeling. I did not know of this forum at the time and just dove back in on my own.

You are making a great move reading here. Will you be running command or conventional?

I'm sure many responses will be coming to your post. Just read all you can here and check out the sponsors links and you will get up to speed with the latest and greatest. Enjoy...there's some really great stuff available in today's market.

You've missed five years of technical progress (PS2 to PS3, Legacy is better than ever), and some really good products (Vision Challenger) and just kick-butt new products (Lionel's ZW-L, remote Thomas), and some really good, fun discussions here.

You've also missed five years of a lot of discussions that are, frankly, no different than they were five years ago, including the usual rants on the usual topics.  But that is actually becoming better - this forum is more erudite than in the past, and a bit more "polite" or far less non-polite perhaps is the way to say it, than it has been at times in the past, too.

Thanks for the replies.  Can't wait until next month when the building will start to begin.

Jeff, running command with DCS and TMCC.  Will have to look into upgrading to Legacy for future purchases.

I fired up all the engines and subway cars last weekend and they all survived the move and 5 year down period.  Last layout in old house was 3 level 16x14 which got about 35% complete until it had to come down.

Glad to see you back Bryan. You did remember that this is the best source for O-Gauge information and that is a good start for building a new layout.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You will get a quick response to just about anything you are looking for.

We share the same first name but mine is with an "i".
