Is there a common name for the layout where a single track loops over itself once (eg, by a trestle set) and then connects back to make one track. Please refer to the diagram i attached to clarify.
I believe it's called a "folded" Figure 8. Most common Figure 8s are on the same level and require some kind of track crossing to get to one side or other of the Figure 8. However some Figure 8s are made by raising the track over where the crossing would normally be, eliminating the need for a crossover piece of track. The Folded Figure 8 just takes 1/2 of the Up and Over part and folds it over the other half.
Thanks PRR, i always felt this was a figure 8 with the crossover part shoved to one side. This is actually my current layout but i never know how to describe it to others in just two or three words.
