What kind of spackling do I use over wood? For the ground Im going to be painting and screwing down track over this. Its a small hill top section that I dont want to use foam on. I cant use foam because it would change the height of my trestles and bridges. Thanks

Well, I'd put a coat of paint on the wood before you put down any Spackle-like product. We use wallboard compound, it's cheap and works, but if you get ten responses, you'll get ten answers.

I'll second this, i.e. paint the surface with what ever color you plan the scenery to be in that location.
