As we are preparing to (sort of) complete the first section of the Corry and Columbus and are reaching the first passing siding, I was wondering if anyone else planned to or does use signals on their layout and if so what various kinds are in use? We are preparing to install logic rails infrared block system and are using dwarf position light signals(I know, not prototypical, but I grew up along the PRR)

Most trolley lines did not have signals. Some interurbans used Nachod signals.

Around here, the longer lines used Semaphores, the P&W in Philadelphia used coloured light signals(had the great good fortune to take one of the last Bullets home one evening to Norristown)
You might check out the Atlas-O signal system. I think it is a very nice system and plan to use it someday, if my wallet survives all this other stuff. I think they have the PRR style signals also.

The C&C turns from street track to private higher speed right of way with passing sidings, so we are going with some signaling. I was just curious if anyone else was using signals on their layouts, and if so, what kind of arrangements.....

We are going to try one block with Atlas and one with Logic Rail to see how we like them....right now, tending towards the logic rail.
check out Custom Signals They are compatible with Atlas but extend the variety of signal types much further.
We use them on our club layout

That was interesting. I didn't know about those!

Very nicely done! When I helped my late brother in the past with his layout, it was still the "bulb era" the LED's make quite a difference......are you using ATlas' control system or Custom Signal's?

They use the same control system

I am not familiar with Logic Rail, will have to go check those out. Atlas and Custom Signals are the same system. Custom Signals uses Atlas for their basic system, they just expand on it with more options and accessories.

C&C, btw is two rail with powered overhead...

Thank you very much!
Jon, I am planning a run down there in the spring when they re-open. I've never been there. MY daughter and I have some West Penn items that we acquired that we plan to donate..and take a ride
I am experimenting with scratch building them out of brass with LEDs. Hope it works.
We've decided to go with the Logic Rail; in the end it seems to have the most flexibility and allows us to use almost any make of signal, and to put some old NJ International and House of Duddy signals to good use.....
I had very good luck with Z-stuff signal. They have a built in sensor so you only need a hot and ground to wire them and your done.
