I would like to see from them the following:

A gondola, a refrigerator car, more triple dome tank cars, a covered hopper, a bay window caboose, rubber roadbed to go with their "O" Gauge track and "O" Gauge electric switches done in different radius's.

If Menard's could do the same for locomotives they have for 40 ft box cars I am in!!!!!

But locos open a big ugly can of worms. Command control system or conventional.....either way some will not be happy. And developing your own loco with electronics, drive system and sound??? Not me!! I could see them have a loco made by an established manufacture but it'd most likely be new paint on a current loco and just as costly. JUST IMHO ONLY!

A fairly detailed catenary system, at least one that looks better than MTH's.  Many folks over the years have said they wanted something like this.  Does not need to be operational, although I'm sure many would like it to be.  I think there are a lot of folks that want a nice looking, easy to setup non-operational catenary to run their 3-rail GG1s and other electrics under.

Conventional would be great to start and if price is right that would be fine as we can always add TMCC or Proto sound 3 ( I think it is now lol ) I'm for new engine steam if bigger than x-4-x maybe like a hudson and some diesels GP's and NW-2 are always fine with me. So are alco's

More loads on flat that are more like 50's - 60's era vehicles.

Remake rubber road bead similar to the old Johnson roadbed now impossible to find. I would have never converted to fastrack had the rubber roadbed been available for tubular track,

THAT is a very realistic suggestion.....with Menard's connections they should be able to source it. I am using cork but understand the desire for it.

Since we're trying to build a cityscape, I'd like to see city buildings, like apartment buildings with fire escapes and slightly grand entrances (circa NYC 1920s - 1940s) and commercial business buildings and department stores like Macy's or Gimbles - the type that often have multiple doors or a revolving door and side doors, with large first floor picture windows and nice brickwork.

EDIT: blasted autocorrect! I fixed it but it should have said REVOLVING door. And Menards would do it right. For hotel, a nice bar/lounge seen through big windows on one side of hotel and the other side to house a nice lobby with front desk and couches where little people bustling about or just sitting can be added.

Un-decorated cars and a selection of decals.

If Microscale, Walthers and Champ (and thers) all gave up on  O scale.....doubt it would be a good category for them. Just a reality check.  I can make decals on a commercial level....I've looked at it....no thanks....but if any one wants to enter the biz I'll direct you as to how.

Intermodal well cars with containers and/or piggy backs

Are you guys suggesting Intermodal cars and hoping Menard's can do them for $20....or you just want more variety??  When I decided to make up a Intermodal train, I model late 50's, there were plenty on the market.

And yes my suggestion of wood reefers is not ground breaking......lots of them out there......but I can see Menard's making them more affordable by co-branding with their vendors.

ore cars

Williams by Bachmann just announced they are producing the K-Line ore cars again in new schemes.

They would have to make a different type of ore car. Perhaps the never before offered in O Scale rib sided ore cars like on the Chicago & North Western, Wisconsin Central SSAM, Soo Line.

This is an HO scale model from Roundhouse originally, now Walthers.

CNW ore car walthers

I would like to see a series of circus cars similar to the army cars.  This would include flats with animal cage loads, box cars and hopefully a few passenger cars.  For structures, how about a set of circus tents including a Big Top!  Now that's not too much to wish for... is it?

Oh yeah... How about some Ohio Central line cars...

In addition to the case lots of individually numbered single dome black tank cars...l will take a case of individually numbered drop bottom gondolas, and cost can be saved by scrimping on the out of sight bottom detail.  Just so they look good on the track. These for western railroads, for me, and eastern roads for others.  Should be on Bettendorfs; changing them all out is a nuisance, and Weaver #711's are now hard to find.

A lot of great suggestions here! I think what Menards is doing so far has been great. It just keeps getting better and better. I don't have any of their hopper or tank cars, yet...that will most likely change once Christmas gets closer. The possibilities for new paint schemes on the hoppers, tank cars, boxcars, and flatcars is almost limitless. Hope they keep 'em coming!

I'd like Menards to put out some more cabooses, too. Again, there's no end to what paint schemes they could put on them.

As for things they haven't made, I think it would be cool if they would find a way to produce a series of passenger cars, maybe 027 size or slightly larger, at a reasonable cost - maybe the $35-$40 range. Have them be based on Budd streamlined equipment - a baggage car, coach, dome, sleeper, observation car, etc. Not that I need any more passenger equipment (LOL), but I wouldn't mind adding the occasional coach or something in old railroad liveries as "private varnish" on my Amtrak trains. Or offer Amtrak stuff? I hear it's kind of difficult to get Amtrak licensing but if Menards could do it that would be awesome.

If Menards did offer locomotives, they'd have to be basic, conventional ones. Nothing wrong with that, those of us that like command can add it later if we want to. A $70 or $80 diesel with decent detail and reliability and a working horn might be a home run for them.
