I have some trutrack.

The roadbed wasn't rubber. It was a fairly hard plastic that was somewhat difficult to attach to the track.
I have straights and curves, along with the associated roadbed.

They also made a terminal track and manual switches.

It was made in Italy.

I tried setting up a circle of track. I could not get a train to run on it.

Some folks claim that the problems were caused by the aluminum rail oxidizing.

IMHO, the system they had for joining the rails, expecially the center rail was poor, and probably didn't make good electrical contact.

I used some of it for display track for a while.

Joe, there is discussion about Tru-Trak on here from time to time.  To the best of my recollection, it lasted only 3 or 4 years.  I think there were durability issues with the plastic roadbed.... in addition to the factor you mention concerning Magne-Traction locos.   I am sure others can/will add more.
