Anyone have any idea if Atlas will release any new coalveyors? The 2013 run was canceled, and it had a few roadnames that I would have bought if they were released.

New Coalveyors would be great.
If I got them, I would have to get the Wisconsin utility ones with blue ends that were used over the Burlington Northern.
Canadian companies like CP Rail, Sultran, and Procor had Steel Gondolas for coal loads that were very similar to the ACF Coalveyor gondolas. The guys at Atlas O could put those Canadian roadnames on the Coalveyor.
David J Joseph has been repainting the Coalveyors they have into blue and green. They could make those.
They just need to search harder for more coal gondola schemes.

Andrew, just out of curiosity, why do you always say things like "they have to" or "they must" in regard to the manufacturers? They don't have to do anything. Atlas and the others, are consumer product companies. If something sells, they make more. If something fails to sell, they don't make it again.
If you do a search on the Atlas HO and N scale site, you'll see they have made plenty of coalveyor bathtub gondolas and aluminum coal gondolas in a wide variety of road names. So I doubt Atlas needs to search harder for more schemes.
Maybe there are simple business reasons, like maybe they don't sell enough of them in O scale. Just because a handful of people really want these... well, a handful of people doesn't justify a production run. Atlas has had some major problems with their overseas vendors, which affected their entire product line. Which could also play into why the 2013 run of O scale coalveyor gondolas was cancelled.
Of course, the other reason was simply maybe they didn't get enough orders.
Atlas will be at the York meet and they usually give out some advance info, as for reruns 2 years ago they cancelled a run of the TTX flats but just reran them them this year so at some point in time they will probably run the Coalveyors again. JMO

Sometimes it is the color schemes companies want to produce that leave orders on the table. Sunset/GGD seems to do a great job of offering a wide variety of choices and then cutting out those that do not sell.
I have (10) for sale if you want them?

Are any of them Nebraska Public Power NPPX. if so I am interested. I have been searching for years. Thanks. Nick T.
I would take some in the NPPX road. I have 1 but they are hard to find. I was able to get 7 cars in Wisconsin power. I love these cars, they have great detail, real coal loads. The downfall is anything new from Atlas can be pricey. Nick T
Id like to get the Das8 40Cs Ive had on order for like 5 1/2 years
They chose the funky DJJX graphic scheme the last time. This time they have to choose something with more appeal, so there are enough orders. It is fine for HO scale. There have been NSC coil cars and Trinity 5161 Cu Ft 3-bay covered hoppers in alternate history paint schemes. They can put the graphics of the other Coal Gondolas from Canada and from Berwick Forge and Foundry on the ACF Coalveyor gondolas.
Andrew
I was actually going to purchase the Atlas O scale Coalveyor gondolas. Then I discovered that they are a very limited item since they have been built-to-order and few of the hobby shops who carry Atlas O ordered only one box more of each utility scheme than what the operators ordered. The gondola were sold out rather quickly.
I ordered Coalveyors from JD's during the last announcement. That was cancelled.
They have put "close-enough to the prototype" schemes on the other freight cars. Why not do the same for the ACF Coalveyor gondolas? Apply real Coal Gondola markings from coal gondola that are very close to the same design, but with slightly different rib sizes.
Andrew
These CP Rail coal gondolas are close enough to the ACF Coalveyor gondola design that it would be reasonable to have the CP Rail graphics and colors put on the O scale Coalveyor model.
Andrew
For a train from Canada or a train headed to Canada in the USA, we could have several sultran gondolas together in trains.
The ACF Coalveyor is very similar to this gondola, so it should be no problem to apply the markings.
Andrew
My model railroad could use a set of 4 DAPX ACF Coalveyor gondolas.
The side of the frame will have to get some actual retro-reflective striping.
Andrew
I have about ten or twelve I would sell... They are 2-rail...
dan@m4cg.com
If they are 2-rail, I would have to get the trucks changed to 3-rail.
Andrew
This UNION PACIFIC Maintenance of Way green gondola was built by Berwick, Forge & Foundry. It is similar enough to the ACF Coalveyor gondola that it would be acceptable to paint them in this scheme with gray anti-slip coating and yellow reflective stripes.

Andrew,
Yes, you would have to convert to three rail... Good observation. Dan

Out of curiosity, what road names do you have?
My computer won't hold a charge for some reason so I haven't been able to use it a lot recently, causing my lack of replies. I wanted to buy the DJJX and/or the MWCX versions. I see those all the time in SE Michigan. I hope they do re-announce them soon. I know those two are scrap metal gons, but as Andrew said, they're close enough to the prototype. The HO ones look pretty good.
The David J Joseph DJJX gondolas are actual ACF COALVEYOR gondolas, but the name have been painted over and covered in rust.
The DJJX cars are now being repainted in blue and green, making them more attractive as a paint scheme for O gauge operators.
Andrew
Dan,
How much would each Coalveyor Gondola cost?
What are the reporting marks and colors of the gondolas?
Thanks,
Andrew
Gents,
BTW, I was going to take these and add extra height to the cars like this.. but then I back dates my model RR.. So I didn't do the conversations.. which was just adding to the height.. But these cars are used in C&D service today.. I see them in Ware, MA daily..

These are recent photos of the David J. Joseph DJJX ACF Coalveyor gondolas patched and fully repainted. The guys at Atlas could put both of them in the catalog next time to see which is more popular with the 3-rail operators.

Atlas just announced these, I'm in! These are great for my ny& Atlantic mp15 from Mth.
The ACF COALVEYORS that Atlas have for order in June/July are old schemes patched for current scrap hauling service.

Yes, I hope they don't get cancelled again. The Joseph transportation & the RMG leasing are the 2 roadnames I would want for a scrap & debris train. The green scheme on the David J Joseph is cool and I do wish they included that one. Too bad
These are available on our website now - use discount code case4me to get an additional discount on a full case of these hoppers. 2 Rail and 3 Rail. Thanks.

The Undecorated COALVEYOR gondolas could be painted like similar steel gondolas owned by the Union Pacific, CP Rail, Sultran, and others.

Very true, I reserved 2 undecorated and will paint them in the new green David J. Joseph scheme seen in the above pic. Glad atlas is giving us these cars again!
DJ
There are also the blue COALVEYOR gondolas for DJJX.
There are more road numbers in bluish-green.

Which COALVEYOR gondolas are people going to order?
Andrew
We will see some new ACF COALVEYOR gondolas if everybody orders by July 25th, 2018.

Andrew,
So any of these would fit a current era layout and be filled with steel scrap? If so, which are accurate for the model?
Thanks
All of the gondolas they show have second-hand owner reporting marks and all would be for scrap service.
