I was working on a layout in SCARM for Ron W using Gargraves track and had problems bringing my loops together.  Gargraves doesn't have pre=cut 1/2 and 1/3 curves even in its largest diameter curves.   I was mixing wood tie curves with plastic ties curve.  So I ran an experiment and the results were that the curves were not the same diameters and cannot be interchanged.

Gargraves Curves

The blue is plastic and the yellow is wood.  The difference in SCARM varies from 1/16" to 5/8".  Also neither tie product is consisted as whether correct, over, or under the noted diameter.

I'm going to forward this info to Milen at SCARM.

Gargraves curved sections can be adjusted as you lay them on your layout.  Put a couple of screws into the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the section.  The free end (where the next section will join) can be flexed 1/4" or so in either direction (tighter or wider curve).  Another screw near the end will hold it.

There is no need to be concerned over slight mismatches in curve diameters as shown by a computer program.

I have got to agree with Bob on this one. No need to worry about these extremely small discrepancies. After all, it is 3 Rail track, not fine scale 2 Rail.

i am a draftsman by trade and me of all people gets really worried about precision. I designed my new 25'x35' layout using my CAD software and ROSS / Gargraves as templates.  I built as I went along using my drawings as a guide. A few fractions of an inch here and there never caused any issues because as Bob noted...there is some "play" in all the preformed curves.

i am not trying to downplay your concern. Just wanted to report that "in the field" it is not a problem.
