So you might be sitting there, fighting your favorite Lionel, MTH, or even other 3rd party manufactured Coal operating accessory.

And then you realize- this guy built this:

And, for those really paying attention to mechanical details, you might notice, it appears that the battery powered mine carts- interface to the drivelines of these end point operating coaling stations. Again, I watched the video and noticed, it appears the cart and possibly the drive wheels, interface shafts and gearing of the various loading and unloading stations- even the turntable. It's all clutches!!!

If this is the incorrect category, by all means move, but to me this was a coaling scene built with Meccano . It's not tinplate per-se.

Again, I just found that while fighting a typical modern or even postwar trackside operating accessory, and then there are others that build something automated like this, that blows away our "toys".

Is Meccano and erector sets the same company?

Meccano is a brand of model construction system created in 1898 by Frank Hornby in Liverpool, England.

In 1913, a very similar construction set was introduced in the United States under the brand name Erector. In 1990, Meccano bought the Erector brand and unified its presence on all continents. In 2013, the Meccano brand was acquired by the Canadian toy company Spin Master.

So, in a way, no, not in original Erector sets manufactured by Gilbert that advertised American Flyer in the instruction sets and catalogs. But a new set today, appears to be all the same brand.
