I have the Walthers gas electric kits, in long and short versions, and several of the end castings, too, which seem common in shows. I have built two of the Am. Std. Car Co. gas electric kits, three rail powered, but none of the Walthers ones yet, although that is on my to-do list. The MoPac had a prototype twin for the Am. Std. kit, so I could model one for a road I wanted. The Walthers kits are C&NW prototype, although they offered the same kit, in their HO version, as a GM&O car. If somebody can tell me the Rock Island, Burlington, ATSF, UP, C&S, or some other "Colorado" road ran a similar car to the C&NW/GM&O, I will build one of these. I was surprised that the Am Std. kit built the MoPac car with no changes.
Does anyone make their own from scratch, or makes them on commission? I really don't have the skills (Or an interest.) required to build a car completely from the ground up, but I would love to have an O scale model of my grandfather's private varnish (Southern #16).
What is "Brother Love" doing in commercial work now? He built a beautiful model of the L&N gas electric, "Hucketybuck", so would have no problem whipping out any kind of a passenger coach. SINCLAIR, if you could provide good photos of the Southern car, he or somebody could gin one out.....(I would be reluctant to claim to be able to do that as professional as it should be done)
