Just recieved a Nickel Plate Road Berkshire from Charlie Ro great engine! But it has two quirks
1-At half throttle the chuff goes away and it sounds like a diesel?
2- The smoke unit keeps blowing smoke in neutral almost better than when running.
Any one else have these issues? My Polar Express Berk keeps its chuff at any speed and the smoke cuts off instantly in neutral.

Sounds like you need to contact Chas. Ro. I have the same two Berks you own and they both run, smoke, and sound as they should. I am not sure if you have a newer issue of the NKP Berk but if so it may continue to smoke when stopped.

I've never run a FlyerChief steamer in conventional mode but I believe all the Berks have constant fan driven smoke except the first issue of the Polar Express based on what I've observed in my own collection. I can't help you with the chuff issue but these locos are best suited to FlyerChief operation.
I only run them on Flyer Chief. The manual says it will not smoke in neutral but it does1
I am not complaining about the engine just pointing out an oddity. I have two more coming and wonder if they will act the same?
All i need now is smoke fluid that smells like CEDAR I tried Mega steam and Marty's but no cedar smell to either one. I sure miss Anormal1 smoke fluid.

Try "Genuine Cedar Scented Smoke Fluid" mfg. by Gilbert Flyer. I bought it on ebay last year.
