If this is the set with Bachmann’s 4-6-0, you probably will be satisfied. That engine is nicely designed with low-speed gearing. And it’s not strictly a train set locomotive, given that it is sold separately.

However, I have never run my Chesapeake and Ohio version with more than five cars, so I don’t know what its top limit is. It’s a diecast model, so weight isn’t an issue.

In terms of detail and probably the quality of the cars, it's definitely a low level starter set also assuming you're talking about the set headed up by the 4-6-0 locomotive.  The locomotive is one of the better ones Williams makes as it's geared to run well at slower speeds and is mostly made of die cast so it has some weight to it.  Again, not terribly detailed other than cast in detail, but a good solid runner.
