I am looking for some ideas for a winter scene. I would like to include automated skaters, skiers, ski lifts snow mobiles etc. I know I have seen the automated skaters on a pond but I cant seem to find them.

I got one m as the 20 years ago. Is it a Department 56 animated skating pond?
Yes, what I got years ago was the Department 56 Village Animated Skating Pond. Its $60 on ebay.
Thank you, that is exactly what I am looking for. I see Lemax makes an automated skating pond but I don’t know what scale it is.
I attached a photo of my winter scene that includes many of the items from Lionel and Lemax you are considering. There is definitely a difference in scale. Lionel is O scale, but the Lemax items are larger (don't know exact scale). For that reason, I put the Lemax units in the foreground and Lionel units in the background. The different perspectives help a bit. FYI, I remove the Christmas items after the holidays so that it is more generic.
Hope this helps.

Most of my Halloween and Christmas Lemax structures measure out to be O scale, but many of the included figures are oversized.
I cut them off if with a exacto saw if I can reach them and glue smaller figures in place where possible.
What are some of the animated scenes that you have used? Can you replace the larger Lemax figures with smaller Arttista figures on the animated scenes? What do you use for snow? This will be a permanent set up so I am thinking of kit bashing some of animations together. I have the Dept 56 ice pond on order .
Word of warning, Lemax ice skating models like the HOCKEY IN THE PARK and OUTDOOR SKATING RINK have tiny little motors that don't last, not even a season! I've had both, was going to try and replace/upgrade the motor, but nobody seems to know the specs, like voltage and rpm! Oh well, add to the landfill! Sad!

The Lemax skating rink figures move via magnets under the ice. You could replace them with Artista figures on an appropriate base, however benches and static figures around the frozen pond are way big.

Randy - I love the whimsical look of all your photos!! Well done!!
If referring to my earlier post, here are some replies to amtrak's questions. No, the figures in the animated accessories from Lionel (skaters) and Lemax (snow angel) are not interchangeable. For snow I use Woodland's Scenic Soft Flake Snow, then Extra Fine Buffalo Flurries (be sure it's Extra Fine), then sprinkle some Diamond Dust for a bit of sparkle (see photo for products).
Hope this helps.
