Wire Net / Mesh

I just watched this You Tube video:

Is aluminium wire net or wire mesh, as the guy calls it, the same as aluminum screen material sold by Lowes or H.D.? This seems easier than a cardboard web which is what I used in the first part of my layout. It looks like you can cut it with a scissors and it doesn't poke you or cause blood to flow. (Although with me, you never know.)

I've already stacked extruded pink foam too, but in this section I'm about to start I have open bench work with several levels of track and elevation changes and I don't think foam will work.
