I just purchased a pre-war set with a nice #1666 locomotive. The tender, a #1689W, is nice as well except that someone cut the wiring and now I need someone to help me re-wire it. I saw a similar post on this site but the guy posting figured it out himself so there were no wiring diagrams shown as part of the response. Is there a tender wiring diagram on-line that I could follow to re-wire this tender? Thanks. GR

Whistle is grounded out by attachment to body. 3rd rail pick-up (s) have wire that join (if 2) and connect to the DC activated relay. Post a picture of the units and can tell you where to attach as there is some variability
Variation in ground wiring is the biggest difference when Lionel went to plastic bodied whistles vs. metal body ones
Thanks for the information. I will send you some photos as soon as the glue sets up on the tab that holds the whistle relay. GR
Glue on the tab that holds the whistle relay !? That could break the necessary frame conductivity. Once we get your pictures, we can see if we can work around that...
