Neither the Ross nor Z-Stuff web sites discuss wiring Ross’ double slip switch with DZ-2500s.  The diagram on their web sites use DZ-1000 switch machines.  I have modified the Ross diagram and attached it below (the switch diagram on the far left).  I’m treating each side of the switch as being independent of the other.

I did not change the lead rail attachments from the relay since they should be the same.  I did add the non-derailing function for trains entering the switch; the exit side switch points will not change.  The train will not derail going into the switch, but no telling what it will hit on departure.

I think I’ve got it right.  I would like feedback from you smarter guys on if this is correct.

The picture is .jpg and may not be very clear on some computers.  The original file is PowerPoint 2010 and is attached below for those that can open it.

Thanks.

This is great. I just wired the double cross over with DZ-1000's with the Radio shack 275-0241 relays last night. I am heading over to do the double slip this weekend. I will try this out but using the Radio Shack relays. I hope this fixes the stallout by some engines on the slip, it did on the crossover.  thanks for posting, your timing is perfect.

moed321,

I hope my diagram helped, but keep in mind it is for the DZ-2500 switch machine.  The DZ-2500 uses only one wire for control.  If you go to the Ross Custom switches web site and look for the page on advanced wiring for the double slip, it shows how to do it with the DZ-1000s.

Arthur,

I took the tag line from some literature from the service organization I belong to; not sure why they had it different except that it is better English?  Just checked the web, and I see at least one other organization that had it wrong.

I saw it came from author Sherry Anderson.  I've updated my tag line.
