I recently purchased the Lionel FastTrack Accessory Activator to hook up crossing gates. When I hooked it up to the tracks the crossing gate immediately activated without the train even going over the track. The crossing gate made a loud buzzing noise as if it was getting too much power. Any advice would be appreciated.

Which crossing gates are you using? Are you running conventional or command?

't seem to be working. Thanks.
An old lionel one, maybe from the 90's. I'm not using command so I guess it's conventional. I'm using the mth z-4000. I get power, but the pressure part to activate the gate doesn't work.
What's the model number of the accessory activation track? Does it use a pressure switch or an insulated rail?

Are you using the pack where there is a 10 inch insulated track with two wires coming out and also 2 5 inch isolated track pieces?
If so, look carefully at the 5 inch pieces you will see each of them has an outside rail that has a break in it. This break is what isolates the rail. You should line up the three sections so that the isolated outside rails are the same side as the notched wire from the insulated section. This arrangement is for powering the accessory with track power.
If you do not have the isolated rails on the same side, the insulated rail will always be active and the accessory will be on all of the time that you have track power.
