Hi all,

I’d like to run my train loops using Conventional mode (ZW-L) and Command Control (Legacy Remote) —not at the same time, but toggle between the two options, based on which trains I’m running.

My question is, what is the best approach to wire the newer FasTrack Command switches so I can manually throw the switch in conventional mode (using the included remote switches), but also throw the switches in command control using the legacy remote? Is there modified wiring I need to do to achieve this? (e.g. Should I have constant voltage, pull the jumper, and run a wire from AUX IN to ZW-L, etc.)

Thanks for any advice!

Andy

If you use the remotes included with the Fastrack Remote/Command switches, you get both conventional and command-control with them. To answer the question regarding fixed voltage connections to the switches: I recommend that you wire the switches to a fixed 12-14V accessory voltage. That way, the train(s) will run well, and the switches will throw without drawing amperage away from the track. Also, if you use a ZW-L, you can run conventional trains with your Legacy remote. I use a Legacy Powermaster on my layout, and it works the same way. It is really fun to watch a conventional loco without being tied down to a fixed control panel.
