My around the room shelf layout is ready to wire the turnouts. I am using DZ1000 and DZ1002 controllers. My layout only has seven turnouts and I am not utilizing a control panel but placing the controllers at the turnout locations. My thinking is too have a terminal strip near the turnouts one for power band one for ground. Wire from power source to terminal power strip and same for ground. Then tie in my power from turnouts to the power strip and my grounds from controllers to my ground terminal strip. This will save wire and time as opposed to a control panel with separate wiring back to a panel. Have others done this?

I have done similar with Atlas switch machines. All power and commons go to a terminal strip near each switch controller and then to the switch machines. Switch controllers are located at or near the switches on the layout, no control panel. I have one DZ1000/1002 which I wired very similarly, but I think it may have been slightly different than Atlas? Same idea though, power & common still go to a terminal strip near the DZ1000/1002 setup. Can't remember this stuff like I used to be able to...soon as finish, it seems to immediately get purged from the old memory banks for some reason?
