I seldom attend a show/meet where Woodland staff is in attendance.....otherwise I'd have asked them myself...

How come there have been no new releases of their figure sets in any scale for the past few years???

I had been of the understanding from earlier conversations with them that some artisan(s) sculpted the masters for their figures in large scale.  Then they were scaled down to the desired size for manufacturing/marketing.  If that were true, considering the dozens of figures they've done in HO, there's a lot of potential releases for the O scale market....much less N and G, also.

I've always thought their figures were well executed, properly proportioned/scaled, and reasonably priced.   So, I'm puzzled by the absence of new announcements in this category.

Any forumite share this concern....and have spoken directly to Woodland for a credible answer to share with us?

Thx...

Scenic Express had to stop carrying Arttista figures years ago because SE is "mass market", and Arttista is a "family" venture turning out a hand finished product. In short, Arttista could not keep up with SE orders, and SE did not want to p.o. their customers with "out of stock" messages.

Woodland Scenics, on the other hand, makes some wonderful figures. I have many, plus Arttista figures, on my layouts. I'd be happy to see a larger WS choice. They have wonderful paint detailing. Another plus is that they come in "groups", like 4 men playing checkers (with a sleeping dog included), or 3 Scouts, complete with tent and campfire. Overall, WS are my favorite, but Arttista has a much larger selection.

What I have been almost begging for is some mid to late 19th century seated passengers for the Overton and Woodside passenger cars. MTH seems to sell a bunch of the cars but people to put in them are not to be found. There is a limited variety of standing people but pretty much that's about all.

P.S._ I could turn them into excursion trains with modern style people but I much prefer to keep them period appropriate.

This question has come up before. All that came out of it was that Prieser had made a few figures, but that was about it. You could always make it into a "tourist" RR, like the 1860s "Steam Into History" near York, PA.
