Two Questions:

1.  I notice that the green gets all over your hands when you touch it especially smoothing it out.

Is that normal?

2.  I am using Gorilla Glue and some weights.  Tried Aileens Tacky Glue, but after 3 days it still hadn't dried so I wiped it off.  What do you use?

John - yea I have experienced that. It doesn't bother me much because where I have the mats, I use them as a base for further ground cover which means more glue is applied over the mat. If you feel it necessary just spray some matte medium or scenic glue over the mat areas with issues. If you have scraps (see below) you can scrap off the grass and apply it to 'thinned out areas'.
I think part of the reason is that the ground cover is designed to be scrapped off the mat in areas where one wants to place say a dirt path or a road.

2nd Follow-up:

After discovering that the green flocking STILL comes off all over your fingers and anything else that touches it I gave it a heavier second coat and allowed it to dry.

Even after a second coat the green stuff still comes off.

Conclusion:  Horrible mistake to use this mat on a layout.  Besides being difficult to glue down the green flocking comes off even if you coat it with a spray.  Once it is glued down you are stuck with it.  I would recommend NOT buying it.  Use indoor-outdoor carpeting or something else.

I used double sided tape.  Worked great for me, no problems at all.

My biggest complaint was not the difficulty gluing it (I used Gorilla Glue with weights as suggested by Ken Hoganson in his book 21 Great Track Plans for Compact Layouts).

My biggest complaint was the "grass" coming off even after two coats of spray as I described.

Maybe you got bad batch.  A lot of that going around these days.  I never sprayed it and used it on 4 layouts I built and was always happy with it.

Good to know.  I gave up trying to call Woodland Scenics.  You have to leave a message and no one returns your calls.  They also never responded to my emails.

Happy you had good results with yours.  I have had good results with other Woodland Scenics products, just not with this one.
