If I had money, I'd just get BCRs. These are 2.4V Ni-CD so I was wondering what would be different about this and the ones from MTH?

It should work but you might have to swap out the connectors.

Over on the DCS forum, in 2 threads, gunrunnerjohn has referenced a Digikey 2.5F supercapacitor. I have started using them; bought 15. Work fine.
The batteries yiu reference should work fine. Save the wires and plugs from your old batteries; cut the off, don't try to unsolder. Too dangerous. Heat can cause batteries to explode. Watch polarity if you have to attach connectors.
what voltage did John recommend for the 2.5f capacitor 5 volt?

He only spoke of the supercap for the 3-volt system.

What I can't find is his recommendation for the 3V (2.4V) solution.
That is the 2.4 volt system version.
Actually they are rated for about 5.4V. Two 2.7V capacitors. You need that because the voltage supplied at the charge port for charging the capacitor is 5VDC. G
