I have two handhelds each with my 5 engines. Engine addresses are the same in both. Mysteriously, an engine disappeared from 1 of them. I took all the other engines off the layout to readd the missing loco. It did but at a different address. From monitoring the forum and following Barry I know this is not good, so I deleted the incorrect address. I then did it again and got the same result. So I tried to edit the incorrect address, but the former address was not available in the list. Then when I tried again the loco could not be found. All equipment is PS 3. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Tom,

It’s a somewhat rare, long-standing bug in DCS that, in my experience, tends to appear less often the newer the DCS release. The last time I personally experienced this was when using DCS 4.x.

If powering the remote off and on again doesn’t restore the lost DCS ID#, the only remedy is resetting the remote. However, if you have a remote backup that still has the missing DCS ID#, you can then restore the good backup into the problem remote.

Regardless, if you aren’t using DCS 6.1 already, I suggest that you upgrade.

Barry, FYI here, I recently lost numbers 69 and 70 from one of my remotes. I have 4 of them and everything is 6.0. I use 2 tiu’s in the super mode. Of course it happened when powering up. In the past 15 years I must have lost about 3 numbers. It hasn’t done It for quite a while until the other week. Somehow I suspect the engine triggers the problem. I guess the bug must still be there.
