Weaver has been using die cast sprung trucks for several years, which has improved tracking and the weight issues. The only import parts on rolling stock other then the previously mentioned wagon tops and H30's are the trucks.

Currently, there are no steam locomotives in production, and the current diesel is an RS 11 for which orders are being taken.

That is true of older Weaver cars, but not the latest versions. The TOFC's, B&O wagontops, and Milwaukee Road ribside boxcars have add-on detail comparable to MTH Premier or the better Lionel products. Weaver stopped making plastic trucks a few years ago.All new production rolling stock has die-cast trucks and couplers. The old molds with little add-on detail are still in use, but the newer designs are completely different.

Weaver cars are great! Plastic trucks? No problem - Just fix them either with a soldering iron or epoxy and stop the trucks from being flexible - I've had better luck with the plastic trucks being rigid using gargraves switches.

If you're looking to increase your pike with scale freight cars, Weaver is the best value.

Out of the 75 or so Weaver cars I have.....60 have plastic trucks. Maybe two have had the 'issue' with side frames....fixed in 10 minutes with epoxy.....a 10 cent fix. Plastic trucks are not an issue unless you make it one.

BTW....the 'issue' with the plastic trucks was always a result of rough treatment in shipment.....not while running.
