Is it possible to purchase the controller as a separate item. I had one go bad only reads 19 volts, no adjustment with dial.
thanks Tstark

I don't think they are sold this way. I assume it is not under warranty?
A couple of options... You could sell the power pack and buy a full new set. The power pack is worth something by itself, such as to power a TIU.
Another option is to find someone who doesn't need their controller, because they are using the power pack only. Try posting in the 'Wanted to Buy' forum.

I would be wiling to repair it for you and shouldn't be that expensive , or check on ebay but you might get another one that doesn't work as well!
Alan
Send me and email, if you would like me to repair it I'm in new jersey!
I spoke (wrote) too soon!
Apparently the Z-Controller is available on the MTH website. Product Item Number: 40-750C MTH price is $59.95.
You can buy it right there online and the specs say it supports the 100 watt brick (as well as the 50 and 75 watt bricks).
It might be worth having Alan fix it though.
I'll second the motion for having yours fixed by one of the folks that does this, as there are only a few parts that are likely to have gone bad, and those are easily replaced by someone that knows what they are doing.
I would discuss a price before hand, as if it turns out the board needs to be replaces or some such, it is likely you can find another complete z-controller for less than the parts and shipping to fix yours.
One last note, you may find the complete set cheaper than just the controller, so don't discount that possibility. Since you have a working brick you could also buy a z500 or z750, as the controller is the same for all of them.

JGL,
Were some of the older z750 controllers limited to 75 Watts or 4 amps? Or, have these controllers always been able to work on any power brick up to 100 Watts?
Thanks,
George

I do not know the answer to your question. I seem to recall reading here on the forum that they are all the same, and I can think of no reason MTH would have made different boards, as the parts that control the current cost pennies, but I suppose anything is possible. Perhaps one could check product numbers to be sure it is the same one, or someone that knows more about past product production could chime in.

I have an older z750. I will check the part number when I get home against my z1000. That said, the 40-750c was cataloged in 2001. That was a long time ago, so I assume they are all the same.
They were different back in those day, but they have now gone to a common controller. G
Thanks to all that replied. I think I will keep the brick and spring for the full Dcs system. Thanks. Tstark
