How do you take one apart?

Also check the power cords too.

The most common failure of the Z1000 is the circuit breaker, it's pretty much the only other active component in them. I've replaced two of them in the last month.
I protect my Z units with fast pop resetable breakers.
If you are not already familiar working with the internal components of a transformer, I would recommend NOT messing with it. Keep in mind that there's some deadly stuff at the input side.
Its the brick, the breaker is fine. The ACC. voltage is not working. How do I get the screws out?
get a BIGGER hammer!!
The screws are Torx screws, at least the two I've had open in the last month. The only sticking point is you need a slim driver to reach down the hole to get to the screw, so the typical cheap Torx bit sets don't do the job.
Unless something came loose inside, I'm not sure how the ACC would die and leave the main winding intact, it's just a tap on the secondary it appears. It's pretty hard to kill a transformer core, you have to work at it.
I have seen the control knob fail on 2 units. Never had one apart though.. Not sure if its worth trying.
What control knob, it's a brick?
What control knob, it's a brick?
I'm glad you said that, I was wondering if I was talking about the wrong part!
A #15 torx (a set from O reilly auto parts $6)& a loose wire on the ACC. tap of the transformer. Everything is back together & working fine.
thanks again Jim
