I’ve noticed while running two separate lash ups on one loop that I am having issues with too many amps being drawn and tripping the transformer. I have been trying to figure out why it’s an issue as it doesn’t always happen with every engine. Is it possible that the incline included on the loop is too steep causing the engines to draw too much amperage when going up the incline? I am running a TIU with a remote.

It would help if you could show a drawing how you have the tiu and tracking wired on all the loops!

What engines, are there passenger cars? With one lashup what is current draw? With other what is current draw? Seems your at 5 amps for each which seems high to me, but PS-2 5volt engines can spike to higher amps even with a single engine based on smoke, motors and sounds. So it is possible your overloaded. G
I was running one NJ Transit passenger set with two PS 3 engines and then a freight consist with two PS 3 Dash 8’s. The passengers cars do not have LED’s. The amp bump only seemed to occur when the freight engines were climbing up the incline.
Have you checked to make sure there's nothing binding in the motors, gears or wheels of those engines and everything is turning smoothly ?
Try running each of the four engines around the track separately, one-at-a-time, with no lash-up or rolling stock and observe and compare the amp draw of each, especially climbing the incline.

Good point, wadded up traction tires can make a drag
I have noticed one of the diesels leading the freight appears to be pulling on the consist and may be the issue. I need to figure out if it's an issue with the running gear or tac meter. Anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions for premier engines that appear to be running at different speeds despite being set at the same speed on DCS?
