Happy Thanks all,

i recently purchased a Zstuff, 1040 relay board with the intention of programming stop/delay at one or more points on a track loop.

After making connections, per the suggested board connections in conjunction with an isolated rail section in the loop, I was able to demonstrate a train stop but not a restart following a time stop.

After checking all the connections, I noticed one significant difference between my setup and the set up directions.  The suggested wiring scheme shows only one connection to the rail loop, whereas I have several power connection points along the loop for obvious reasons.

I suspect this is the issue because the control board only 'sees' one source of track power in the wiring scheme, whereas I have more than one.  If this i the cause of the problem, does anyone have a possible solution?

Thanks,,

ray

Do you mean 1240 (not 1040)?  1040 seems to be semaphore signals. And if 1240 which version?

I don't think multiple track power feeds is the problem.  It appears to correctly remove power to stop your engine. To make things simple for testing, is the delay set to minimum (I think 5 seconds)?

Can you hear the relay on the 1240 clicking off and on? Does it click back on after the stop delay?

Some reversing units power up in neutral requiring what would sound like 2 relay clicks to restart motion. Unless reversing unit locked in forward of course.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for the reply.  Correction, the board is a 1240.  Yes the board clicks, and both indicators light. However, the track power does not come back on following the power cut off, and what appears to a timed delay.  I did perform the board check function per the instructions and that checked out.  I reviewed my findings with DZander, and we have not yet found the cause of the problem, although he thought multiple power inputs to the track could be a problem.

I did try more than one loco and tried that with the reverse unit on or forward only, dip switch set accordingly, same result.

I am beginning to suspect a board issue.

thanks!

Did you solve the problem?  I'm pondering how "multiple power input" could be a problem  I interpreted your multiple power feeds to be like the red lines I added to the 1240 instructions.  When the 1240 is triggered by a stop-zone, a relay simply removes center-rail power everywhere until the timer completes and the relay re-applies power.

Of course this assumes that when center-rail power is removed, the 1240 still gets power to run itself via what is labeled "Accessory PWR" in the diagram!
