I have a Zw-C that has quit working. I opened it up and found a broken blue and purple wire on the RH lever pot. I fixed those. I also found that the 2 heat sinks for the RH A an B channels were loose. I retightened those. I still have no output.

Is there anyone who can repair it? Or should I let it go for parts?

Regards,

Winger

I’ve had trouble with the connectors from the bricks to the ZW. I believe these are called molex connectors. I have since replaced the connectors successfully. There is also a way to have each output dedicated to a single brick or to have all four transformer outputs combined. The cover has to be removed and you’ll need to refer to the manual for instructions.

Winger,

George is giving good advise, this is not the 1st time I have heard of a ZW-C Transformer having a problem.  Many times the Bricks are at fault, some times the main Transformer has gone bad.  Contact John (Guns) and get some professional advise on this one.

Good luck with your ZW-C

Lots of people in our hobby like the Bricks, I do not.  I run good high quality Transformers, both old and new and in over 50 years I have never ever had one fail.

I like my ZW-C. This is my second one. I had a little problem with the handles on the old one, but fixed it. I didn't even use the upgrade parts. I sold that one, but found a deal on another one a few years later that I could not pass up. This one has been rock solid. Maybe it was upgraded with the metal brackets, or maybe I am just lucky. I mostly use the bricks with my MTH TIU, but the ZW is put into duty every Christmas. I also have the meter, which works fine on my isolated Christmas loops.

MOONMAN,

Not big on purchasing a ZW Transformer of any kind, to have it turn into just Parts.  However I do understand your point.  IMO however I do like the developmental engineering that has lead to the ZW-L, which I believe is a much superior Power Station than the ZW-C with the Bricks.

Still have use for my original type ZW's especially with resettable 10 Amp Breakers.
